The white Penja pepper is harvested when ripe in the province of Moungo, in Cameroon. this full-bodied pepper is a worldwide gastronomic delight. All production stages (harvesting, retting, drying, grading, sorting) are entirely done by hand mainly by the experienced hands of the local village women. In 2014, it was the first African product to gain Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status.
