Details
The chaste-tree berry is the dried fruit of the chaste tree, a woody shrub. It is grown throughout East Mediterranean countries and in West Asia. In the Middle Ages it was called "monk's pepper", as it looked somewhat like a peppercorn and was said to reduce sexual desire. The Moroccan chaste-tree berry has slightly bitter and peppery aromas. It is traditionally used to season Moroccan tagines.
This monk's pepper will delight beef dishes, stuffed tomatoes and fish skewers.
