Recipe of a typical indonesian dish, vegetarian nasi goreng

Ingredients for Nasi Goreng

  • 120 - 150g of cooked white rice
  • 4 shallots
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 small strong chilli pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 spring onions
  • 10g grilled cashew nuts
  • a few Lampong peppercorns
  • 2 pinches of coarse sea salt
  • soy sauce
  • oil

Preparation

    1. Crush the garlic, shallots, chilli pepper, pepper, coarse sea salt and cashew nuts with a pestle and mortar.
    2. Fry this ground mixture in a wok with some oil. Stir constantly until the mixture turns brown. Be careful not to overheat.
    3. Add the cooked rice to the wok.
    4. Add the eggs and thinly sliced spring onion.
    5. Stir for about 2 to 3 minutes.
    6. Add soy sauce just before serving to enhance the flavours.
*This dish can also be served using chicken, beef or shrimps.
