Breizh chickpea spread


This Breizh chickpea spread is perfect for a healthy appetizer or a nourishing snack, bringing a unique touch with Breizh Gomasio.


  • 400 g of cooked chickpeas (about one can, drained and rinsed)

  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled

  • Juice of one lemon

  • 2 tablespoons of tahini (sesame paste)

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of olive oil

  • Breizh Gomasio

  • Salt and pepper to taste (optional)



  • Prepare the ingredients: If you are using cooked chickpeas like those from Trésors de Beauce, make sure to drain them well. If you choose to use dry chickpeas, they must be soaked overnight and then cooked until tender.
  • Blend the base ingredients: In the bowl of a blender, add the chickpeas, garlic cloves, lemon juice, and tahini. Start blending at medium speed while gradually pouring in the olive oil until you achieve a creamy and smooth consistency. You can adjust the amount of oil and lemon juice to reach the desired texture.
  • Season: Add a generous pinch of Breizh Gomasio. This mix of sesame seeds, roasted buckwheat, Guérande sea salt, and Breton seaweed enriches the spread with toasted and maritime notes. Stir well with a spoon to evenly incorporate the Gomasio. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper as needed.
  • Serve: Transfer the spread into a serving bowl or into an airtight container if you wish to store it in the refrigerator.

Serve the spread on toasted bread, crackers, or as a dip for raw vegetables.


  • For an even richer flavor, you can add a bit of ground cumin or smoked paprika before blending the chickpeas.
  • This spread keeps well in the refrigerator for several days and can even improve in flavor overnight.
