Swedish Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients for the recipe:

For the dough:

  • 500 g of flour
  • 60 g of sugar
  • 10 g of dry baker's yeast
  • 25 cl of whole milk
  • 100 g of cold butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of fine salt

For the spread:

For the icing:

  • 120 g of powdered sugar
  • 1 egg white


  1. Warm the milk and add the yeast to activate it.
  2. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt. Add the egg and yeast, then start kneading before incorporating the butter while continuing to knead for about ten minutes. Let the dough rest for 1 hour and 30 minutes, covering it with a cloth.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the spread: mix melted butter with cinnamon and brown sugar, then set aside.
  4. Uncover your dough, it should have doubled in size. Punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface using a rolling pin.
  5. Spread the cinnamon mixture over the dough, then cut strips about 5 cm wide.
  6. Roll the strips into spirals and place them in a baking dish. Cover the dish with a cloth and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F) and bake the rolls for 25 minutes.
  8. Once baked, make the icing: mix powdered sugar with the egg white and drizzle it over the rolls.
  9. Enjoy your cinnamon rolls with hot chocolate or chai tea to enhance the cinnamon flavors.
