The fruit of the baobab tree dry naturally on the tree during the ripening period. In Zimbabwe, they are harvested from January to March. The powder is obtained by cracking open the calabashes and then extracting the pulp by hand and separating the seeds from the fibres.
In Africa, the baobab is known as the “palaver tree”. Its majestic branches offer shade to the village people who meet to discuss village life, politics or even listen to the elders tell legendary tales.
