The history behind bread

Bread dates back to prehistoric times and has been part of our daily diet for over 30,000 years! So in fact bread doesn’t originate in France. It wasn’t until the Middle Ages that the French started eating bread with their meal. Bread was then used as a plate, with food spread on the bread and then eaten by hand. Nowadays, bread is almost a national emblem of France, with more than 80 varieties in some regions! The baguette, was invented in Paris in Napoleon times in 1830 to facilitate the transport of bread by soldiers.
